Known as Schmidt's Bakery in the early forties, it was bought by the Baumann's in 1957, and converted onto the well known Swiss Chalet. Four generations of restaurant business in Switzerland continues here today. Due to knowledge and experience in food and service the Swiss Chalet has been a success for the Baumann's for forty four years.
The original place burned down in March 1974, but was rebuilt by the end of that year. With all its old world charm and decor, it is now, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful and attractive buildings in Lake Tahoe.
